The problem with "wide sensors" isn't even wide sensors. We're literally and I mean literally seeing "wide video" and "wide photos" coming from 3:2 sensors and 4:3 sensors.
Not even kidding.
Many smartphones use 4:3 sensors and crop for the 16:9 footage. You've got 4:3 cropped to 16:9 making what would normally be 1920x1440 into 1920x1080 simply tossing out the vertical space. Or 3:2 turning 1920x1280 into 1920x1080. That's the real problem.
It's all just a scam.
These "widescreen" modes are not wide they're just vertically squashed.
Don't blame the ratios, blame the lies.
