>>3745655They don’t even shoot the same type of photography you mongoloid
>>3745656It is not.
>>3745822Don’t know what list you’re talking about so I can’t make any judgement toward the photographers you’re criticizing.
>>3745929This. I’m not even hugely into his work but it’s very evident most people criticizing Soth’s worth ITT haven’t actually read his work. There’s a lot of types of photography. Soth is a fine art photog who presents his work in bookform; to judge his work on individual photos taken out of context is completely missing the point.
>>3745991There are plenty of contemporary photographers worthy of being shat on, especially on an anime board website; however, even if you dislike his work, Alec Soth has done a lot for the medium beyond his work.
>>3746055There’s at least 5 who I think produce less impressive work
>>3746237This. All of this.
>>3746354>yeah I haveNo you haven’t. This isn’t like music where you can listen to a musicians stuff on Spotify and get the same experience as the physical medium. People like Soth make their work with the intent being that you see it in person, either through book or exhibition. Most people here have never held a photo book in their lives let alone stepped foot in a photography exhibition at their local art museum.
>>3746397I’ll do this later for you if the other person hasn’t. For the time being, I recommend simply looking at independent magazines focused on up and coming talent or just browsing stuff like Mack Books and Aperture until something you like pops up.
>>37464161000% spot on with your first comment. On your second comment, I would argue that you should spend less time worshiping magnum artists in general and more time working on your own work.
>>3746425Keep shooting. Literally that’s it. Eventually you’ll see sequences in your work. Look at inspiration, either within art or outside it, and try to formulate an idea that your project has, w/out forcing it
