I bought a full frame camera for less than what a SL3 costs new. And a lens for 50 bucks.
If you are poor you can just buy used and most of the unaffordability goes away.
Stop pretending technical quality doesn't matter. There's a point after which it stops mattering MUCH for most applications, but that's a far cry from it simply not mattering.
I got a DSLR because my old P&S was trash and so is my phone (I've taken some pretty pictures with it but it's prevented me from getting shots I wanted specially in low light and it has a fixed prime that's equivalent to 31mm).
The truth is, APS-C is sufficient for most uses and in some cases advantageous (long distance photography) but FF has its own advantages too.
The weight argument is a meme, you're a twig if carrying a DSLR bothers you so much.
