All Nikon FM are absolute gems. Fully mechanical and with titanium shutter, those things only use a small battery to power the light meter and that's optional if you know how to guess the exposure.

Plus full compatibility with any F mount lens, from pre-Ai to modern G mount lenses. Perfect to go with a DSLR or a Z camera+ftz adapter.

Nikon and canon are both hobbyist brands that never even made a medium format or a range finder camera. How can either brands products ever be considered the best when stacked up to pro tier stuff from Leica or Mamiya?

Nikon did produce rangefinder cameras until slr became popular and they specialised. Also, they have always produced some of the best optics, and they still do.

You gotta have a good digitizing method to get worthwhile scans out of half-frame. Dedicated 35mm scanner or DSLR scan with a good macro lens.

Besides, theyre both mechanical, just one is timed electronically and will stay true while the mechanical one relies on springs which wear out

the fm3a is not old junk, I was made this century and was made with premium materials and workmanship.

I'm not doubting your f100 isn't reliable, I'm just saying that if your batteries die you're camera is a paperweight, I just loose auto mode and a light meter. If your f100 does break, good luck getting it fixed, the old boomers that know how to repair film cameras don't fuck around with electronics, but they will fix mechanical issues.

FG doesn't have as fast of a shutter, which is key to shooting wide open outdoors. They were also built like shit. The FA is even more advanced yes, but its still battery dependent, shutter priority is useless, and I've yet to have my fm3a incorrectly expose a frame.

It't not hard to know how old your batteries are. Once they're a few years old, maybe it is a good idea to start carrying spares with you when you go on longer trips. Or you know...just change the batteries every X years and never have them die, ever.

Except plenty of electronic cameras are easily fixable with interchangeable parts. The electronic cameras that can truly brick and not be repaired are a small portion of the overall market

t. filmfag for 20 years who has while shooting:

never ran out of batteries with an electronic camera
never had an electronic camera stop working
had different 3 mechanical cameras stop working
