What is the consensus on the Leica Q? Is it a good deal now it's come below $2k? Seems alright for a lens of this calibre as long as the body doesn't fail...

If you can afford the lenses and you really really want to scale focus for street, sure. Otherwise just buy an Xpro3. Or an M3 for $700.

Don’t give bad advice if you don’t know what you’re talking about. The Leica Q is autofocus and has a fixed lens.

In other words, it’s the camera the x100 series pretends it is, but falls desperately short. If you can get it for less than $2000 it’s totally worth it.

The Q2 has built in crop modes for 35mm and 50mm. All you lose is a bit of resolution, but it's still there in the raw.. not sure about the Q.

The Q has the best focussing system out of all cameras. You get fantastic autofocus and a short throw manual focus with a distance scale with peaking. No other camera has all this.

Yea was thinking about this. Roughly the 35mm crop is an APSC sensor and the 50mm is a MFT SENSOR.
The RAW files are always the full frame though.

God tier for stills. But the Q and Q2 are shit for video which make them bad travel cameras which is what they should be specialising in with that form factor.

Also, although the Q2 solves a lot of the Q’s problems, the colours are much worse which is a total shame because it doesn’t give me much hope for the Q3.

Wrong, stills are the one thing Fuji is good at. It overheats for video. Sensor binning is the culprit.

My point is that Fuji has an edge when it comes to stills, one of the main reasons to pick a Fuji is film simulation (I know it doesn't look like the film it claims to simulate but that's besides the point). Olympus, Fuji and Leica all try to appeal to the SOOC JPEG crowd.

That’s awesome! My M10R with the 35mm came yesterday, 28mm is fun cause you have to literally be in the scene as a part of it in order to fill out the frame.

Had my Q for about 4 hours and I love it. The 28mm length is very different from the 50mm I’m used to but it’s much more dramatic.
