Just get a late Nikon f or canon EF, lenses are more common in usable condition (and therefore more affordable), autofocus, auto metering that is still accurate, motor drive, TTL flash, DX encoding, can still buy batteries that fit, ability to use the latest lenses are all good reasons to not buy meme cameras.
Nikon f90 and canon elan 7\eos 30 would be great options if you want something that is as good as possible without paying top dollar and will last forever.
If you must get a meme metal body, manual advance camera, then the Olympus om series would be my advice, smallest body, smoothest film advance, biggest viewfinder, excellent (for their time) lenses that are very compact, imo most aesthetic. Om-2n is arguably the most usable model, the 1 has meme tax, the 10 is a bargain but do get one with the shutter speed dial.
