I've always wanted to travel the NY subway and take photographs but I just watched this movie and now I'm having second thoughts. Can anyone from NY tell me if the story is true or not?

As far as I'm aware there aren't reptilians eating people under the city, but there are some pretty weird people on the NY subway. Not murderers but mentally ill weirdos.

You aren't going to get very interesting photos on the train, and if there's anywhere you're going to get a violent confrontation in the entire city (besides the Bronx) it's going to be taking someone's photo on the subway. They're also usually too packed to move 80% of the day, so you're just going to get a bunch of shoulders and not much else.

You’re unlikely to get eaten on the NY subway as a photographer, but the chance of getting raped in the ass is fairly high. Make sure to lube up your asshole beforehand if you don’t want to have any lasting complications.
