I’ve seen a lot of professional photo shoots lately as I’ve been outdoors quite a bit and every single one they are using dslrs not mirrorless.

How come none of the pros are swapping to mirrorless and instead sticking with there dslrs?

Mirrorless battery life is still shit and lasts about a third of the time of a DSLR from 2004.

Yeah possible, although only one was in a 1dx with the extra batteries, no one else was using grips, all just canon or Nikon dslrs. I live in Sydney so this is all brands shooting campaigns and ecom on beaches

Mirrorless doesn't quite cut it yet. The things it offers aren't sought after by pros except for niche products like GH5S or a7S iii which are great for weddings with video.
Also unless you shoot Canon you have to sacrifice image quality for AF. And in general mirrorless cameras tend to have shitty ergonomics specially with big lenses.

Oh and also memory slots. Until very recently it was nigh impossible to find a mirrorless camera with dual slots even on the flagships like EOS R, Nikon Z7 or Nikon Z6. The Z7 II and Z6 II have them, and so do the R6 and R5.

Because they take pretty much the same pictures with the same or very similar sensors, and if you're a seasoned pro with tens of thousands of frame under your belt, you're content to keep using the system that produces what you need and want, vs. dropping thousands on the newest thing. There is probably somewhat of a myth that all the pros are switching, and it's mostly pushed by e-celebs like Jared Polin and the Northrups who make most of their money producing clickbait YouTube videos and selling presets and tutorials.

This, more often than not pros aren't consoomers and they tend to use the same gear for longer.
Also the benefits of mirrorless are irrelevant to them for the most part and the tradeoffs too big.

Because DSLRs still work, still have the best native glass and if someone dumped $10k+ into a system that isn't broken why change because the next iteration came out? I don't hate mirrorless but the idea that something new comes out doesn't mean you have to switch. Especially if the results are no different.

if u have 20k in glass and ur already using a 40megapixel + sensor dslr why bother? mirrorless is better for hobbyists since u can adapt cheap manual lenses and they do video and live view well. if ur a pro u already have top tier glass, wont bother with garbage old lenses, dont care about video and can expose and great get results from a dslr already. mirrorless has no value proposition and would need to spend a lot for new glass.

LoL, no photographer is 'Professional' there is no agreed standard, or acreditation and importantly repercussions as to what a bad or good photograph can be wholly subjective.

Sure you can build or lose a reputation, and suffer civil legal actions, but there is no such thing as a 'Professional Photographer' it is a vocation, job or hobby but not a profession.

Maybe that's exactly it. Pro photographers are just dumb and haven't got a clue what mirrorless means. I mean, how long has the A7 been around for new photographers to buy their first body? The lenses are mirrorless are all different so you'd need to start them from the beginning. Otherwise it's a total dump of their equipment.

Also I love the feel of a nice chonk of a dslr. Mirrorless really doesn't do much other than save trivial space for me personally. The two mirrorless cameras I did have, were not good on battery life, and autofocus wasn't entirely reliable. Only thing mirrorless is good for imo, is video.

Completely agree. And about the space saving, unless it's a Leica most of the time it ends up being bigger with the lenses because they merely add the flange that used to be part of the camera, to the lens.
Undoubtedly they're the best for video.
