I live near their plant and have talked to people who work or know people who work there. You don't hear the details, obviously, but there is a lot of grumbling. A real shame, kinda hope someone or something intervenes, kind of like national heritage, would be a shame to see it go and the cameras become expensive collectibles to sit on shelves of the dentist's dentists.

The real crime is that the X-Pro3 is somehow $1,800 new. Eighteen hundred fucking dollars. You can get a Leica film camera for that money. Fujis are so fucking overpriced it's not even funny. And the value will tank once the next one comes out. It's such a joke. The X-Pro3 should be $1,000 at absolutely maximum price and should have been reduced since then. Really it should be like $800.

Maybe it's because I once cross-shopped the D5100 and the T3i and know everything after them has it don't you think? I recently bought a 90s USM lens that I selected based on it being the cheapest available with a metal mount. I thought it was ugly and looked dated but didn't care because it was cheap.
Then I found out the newer ones until about 2008 look just like it. Was it a ploy by Canon to make people buy the L lenses? I'm amazed that my own lens looks like it could be from the late 2000s. Pic related was made until 2008.
Nikon ones didn't look as ugly, not even the plastic kit 18-55mm.

If you're talking about the dials there's plenty of Panasonics that have them, so does the Nikon Df and so do Leicas.

What is the 50mm f/1.8D, friendo? I don't even own a Nikon but my uncle does and I've tried that lens myself. I can't be bothered to look into what other lenses out there have it but I'd wager a large number of non-G lenses do. You're probably thinking of Canon, the EOS system has no aperture ring and no manual focus lenses.

What does Fuji hardware offer? Worms? Lack of optical viewfinders or half-assed ones that don't allow you to focus? They're toy cameras. Both a DSLR and a Leica will focus precisely with no sensor input. You have to rely on the EVF or the scale on the lens, which is a guesstimate at best.

I almost got sucked into the Fuji meme. I'm so glad I didn't. The visual appeal of their bodies had a lot to do with it, and people memeing about the presets being good. But I did what smart people here recommended and I just got a couple film preset packs and they do just as good of a job if not better. Now I get to spend that money on lenses for my the full frame system I already have and enjoy better IQ and value for money.
