i'm a bit new to photography and comfortable with the basics of video (experience with a t3i).

looking to make the big jump and invest in a work horse for, amateur shorts and music videos. But have a burning passion for getting more deep with photography.

I currently have a
> Canon 50mm 1:1.8
> Canon 10-18mm and a 50mm - 200mm zoom lenses
> Canon 28mm

Having these lenses I'm encouraged to stick with the canon culture, but I'm super fascinated by the GH series and other mirror less cameras. For my first serious camera, should I stick with Canon and get the 70d-80d or maybe look elsewhere? All help appreciated and patience for this scrub lol

Both are good but honestly if the focus is video a mirrorless camera would be better. How about M6 II? The smart adapter by Canon is super cheap for a smart one and you get to use your EF/E-S lenses. I don't know your budget btw.
Don't get the fucking Fuji, even Sony is less miserable.
Another cool option and more future-proofed is BMPCC6K but it's like twice the price of the others or more. The GH series have a MFT sensor so you'll need a speedbooster adapter to see what an APS-C can see.

Why not? They get access to better glass than Fuji could dream of and at competitive prices. With Fuji you pay full frame prices for crop glass.
And the AF sucks ass on Fuji. They can't compete with DPAF technology even after dropping entire lines of green photosites to get those phase detection pixels instead.
Fuji is a meme and a bad one at that.

I’ve got the R for photos, never really film.
Everything I’ve seen about the H seems to make it a strong contender.
Latest firmware update improved auto focus heaps.
Still not a Sony on that front, but it’s entirely useable.

I have a nikon d780 and its fucking baller
it's a full frame dslr but video mode has all features of mirrorless mode, full sensor 4k too

stills are amazing, works great in low light too
