Like, okay, 4chan also thinks that my photos suck, so I'm not really a counterindicator to this thread. But I've gotta say, I have two of the peak design slide straps (a Slide and a Slide Lite) and they're the best straps I've ever owned.
I've never had an anchor break (and, apparently, when
>>3782857 says they "kept on breaking", what he means is that there were a whopping seven total reports of anchors breaking out of over a million sold. And no reports of the 4th gen anchors breaking).
If you have a bunch of cameras and don't want to clutter up your life with a shitload of straps on all of 'em, it's great to just have the little anchor attached and clip the strap to whichever camera you want to use that day.
The fact that they're adjustable is also a godsend. Most days, when I'm just walking around, I like to keep it slung across my body. Adjust it out to max length and that's totally comfortable and you can shoot it like that no problem. For a photoshoot, where I'm gonna be swapping lenses a lot, I like to keep it just around my neck and have it in front of me. Adjust it again so the strap only lets it go down to about my nipples and it's perfect. With a standard strap, adjusting the length is annoying as hell and very fiddly. With the slide, it's trivial.
Plus, it's just much more comfortable than any other strap I've ever used. The previous champ was the Nikon high-end leather strap (e.g., straps from the old D1x or D2), but those always started falling apart after a year or so of daily use.
If they're not for you, they're not for you, but I've not for a second regretted buying mine and I suspect that you're an idiot if you dismiss them as 'a scam' (ahem,
>>3782405) without ever having used them or considered use cases beyond your own.
