Sounds about right.
The guy I fly with is an aerobatics instructor - whether or not this gives him any special allowances I don't know. All I know is it's a hell of a lot of fun, especially in a biplane.
Also, there's nobody as far as the eye can see, so unless something goes wrong, no problem.

I only have phone shit, don't bring my real camera flying with me. Here's San Pedro from the back of a Cessna 172 while it was the other student's turn to fly. (The school I was flying with at the time had a setup where every lesson was cross-country and one student would fly around 1.5 hours to a distant airport and then we'd trade and the other would fly back.)
