If you are using burst mode,
can you really say you "captured the moment"?
At that point, with current technology, you're basically frame freezing in a video.

I know you're trying to sound like a purist but your coming off like count. it's a great tool for technical and artistic photography and if they had cameras that fast back in the day philip halsman would have been able to shoot pic related in one try instead of 26 times

The only way to truly capture a moment is to build a glass aquarium around your subject and force them to live in it forever holding the same pose you want to capture. Photography doesn’t need to capture the moment. All you need to do is represent it well enough so the viewer can fill in the gaps while looking at it. Think of it like reading a novel. All the reader is seeing are words on the page, but their mind does the work to create a detailed scene, which they see in their minds, no illustrations required.
