Why are "fast" lenses so desirable and hence expensive?
Its probably me just being an amateur but explain this to me.
If apperture and depth of field are related and the larger the apperture the more diminished is the depth of field, then whatever you shoot with a fast lens, has to be really close to you for it to be in focus.
That being said the only "advantage" of a fast lens is to create a bokeh for portrait photography.
If you're shooting photos in the night, of landscapes, then you cant really use the full advantages of a fast lens since for it to let in more light the depth of field has to be smaller.
So asides from portrait photography what are fast lenses good for?
