>>3785804RP is good for stills, great value if you find it on sale (black friday sale was selling with the body and the variable aperture kit lens for $999), if you want to use budget glass or you already have EF lenses. That said, as good of a value as the RP is, you WILL get a better value with used camera, like a used 5D Mark III or even a used 6D, which will leave you more money for lenses. Currently, EF lens prices are nose-diving and RF lenses are mostly extremely expensive.
The main issue with the RP is that it's built like a parts-bin camera and intentionally hobbled so it doesn't take sales away from the R, R6 or R5. It has the 6DII sensor, which is decent, but was designed with the same philosophy, hobbled so it didn't cut into 5D# sales (limited dynamic range being the main limitation, but on the RP, you can see that it has really bad rolling shutter). Perhaps most unforgivable is the fact that every other EOS R-series camera is designed so the shutter stays closed when you remove the lens, protecting the sensor from dust when you change lenses, but the RP keeps the shutter open. Admittedly, this is just like any other mirrorless camera (but still not a good thing); however, there's really no good reason Canon would have withheld this function, other than to hobble the camera.
