It's what turned /a/ from one of the most original, fun, welcoming and interesting boards on the site into a "no fun allowed"/show nazi board. You're not allowed to ask for recommendations of anime to watch or manga to read... You can't discuss video players, comfy room set-ups for watching anime... You can't create anime-related memes or talk about anime studios or trends in the anime industry... Every thread *must* be about a specific show or manga, and if it's not, then it will probably just get deleted outright, with very few exceptions, like the buyfag thread, which is reluctantly tolerated by the mods there. I've got to say, I think post quality is in the shitter currently and as a result, I've stopped going to that board altogether.
Just let people have their fun gear threads for now. They'll pass eventually... There's likely a lot of folks who got money from their grandparents for Christmas (or got a "Christmas bonus," if you want to pretend like you're an independent adult with a good job) and are in the mood to shop for equipment. Most of us are likely stuck at home due to authoritarian covid lockdowns, and can't go out and shoot photos anyway. Yet, when we try to talk about cameras on the photography board, all we hear is you assholes whining about how much you can't stand us and demanding we spoonfeed you photography for free. Well, you're going to either have to grow the fuck up and learn to deal with people talking about shit you don't like to hear, or you can get fucked, pissbaby.
