Sony a6000 - worth buying if you have a flagship phone camera?

Hi, I noticed a lot of people on here mentioning that the Sony A6000 is a good entry level camera for those people that are new to photography. Given than this camera came out in 2014, is it really that much of a step up if I own a 2019 flagship Sony smartphone (Xperia 5)? Wouldn't they not be of a similar sort of quality of camera? If so, what camera should I be looking to go for? (UK based)

Why the fuck do we have so many threads about the A6000 of all cameras? It's like most entry level mirrorless cameras: takes great photos (because sensor technology is pretty stale) but is overal a crappy camera compared to newer models.
You should also really consider whether the Sony platform is for you. Their APS-C lineup is bland as fuck and their Full Frame cameras are only interesting for techies and people who make a living shooting both photos and videos.

How about on ebay? KEH is a little different from the rest of the used camera market because it's where you go when you either have no hope of getting any actual money for your equipment, or when you are not smart enough to take (of all things) a PHOTO of your stuff, fill in a few boxes and click "Submit" on ebay to get more than twice as much money as you'll get from KEH.

So really, all you're proving is that there are a lot of a6000's on the market (a6000 owners are dissatisfied with their equipment) and the average a6000 owner is willing to give his camera away for almost free because he or she thinks that it's worth very little. And this is the camera you are trying to shove down newbs' throats....the one that even Sonytards think is hot garbage.

If op is not trolling then yeah the A6000 is a big step up, you still need a lens but. It's not just inexpensive it's actually quite a good camera in its own right. The sensor is still in a modern class of sensors, so it has IQ very close to what you will get right now in APSC and you're unlikely to notice a difference, it has slightly less DR, and slightly rougher noise at high ISO. In practical terms the IQ is still up there. It actually has PDAF too, the eye AF is single AF only though. No IBIS of course. 11 FPS for stills though. It has Sony menus, but I never really change menu settings often and not in the middle of shooting. Its highly capable and has everything I like except the body styling. It delivers great results and is excellent for saving money or on a budget.

Shills hate it because it's such great value it'd draw some people away from being a good consoomer and forking out for brand new camera, brand loyalists hate it for basically the same reason - it's excellent value, and performs great still and isn't their brand.

The a6000 and a few other cameras definitely should be considered. The Nikon D3400 is another worthy of consideration for similar excellent IQ and low cost, depending if you don't mind bigger size and ovf Vs evf/LCD etc and the price you can find it for

For most people it's probably a better purchase. D700 is kinda ancient, much heavier, etc. But an even better purchase would be a D5200.
