When you look at the actual moon all of your senses are involved in that process. You don't just look at moon there will be certain sounds, smells, winds, clouds, your position, your geographical location, pollution etc. This all influence that we see thing in reality. It will depend on your mood how you would perceive that certain scene. If you ask 4 photographer with different styles they will probably take 4 different photographs of moon with different gear usage, different composition and different post-processing techniques. If there photographs are repetition what's exist before then what is the point of taking the exact same shots? But this is another matter.
All art and cultural in general for that matter is fictional. When an artists make his work his artwork he uses the elements which exist in nature as tools to achieve his end goals. He strips elements from nature and make them its own.
Well there is no difference between certain genres of photography and painting. Genres like staged photography, studio landscape, studio portraiture photography etc. All share common element with painting and that is their "additive" trait. Street photography and documentary photography are substrative genres.
