>>3818547No, we can't. Because a shitty Rebel with amazing glass still produces better results than a Sony A1 with shitty glass.
>>3818535I mostly agree, but you're better off with one amazing relatively wide lens in a M6 II because you can crop a lot before worrying about quality than with a camera like the 5D which doesn't have enough resolution to crop and forces you to practice ETTR almost religiously if you want to avoid banding, has no flash and no live view, much worse AF, etc.
There's a middle ground between forgetting about the body and forgetting about glass. Get a body that won't be crippling and the best glass you can. You can crop the images out of the M6 II to 1/3 of the size and get a picture on the same level as the uncropped 5D.
And the M6 II allows you to film 4K video and whatnot. I despise mirrorless and would probably pick the 5D out of masochism (5D2 owner here) but for a newbie it's a terrible choice. Good luck finding one with zero issues by the way.
My own 5D2 has a few minor nuisances, mostly with the sealing and the display in the viewfinder, and it was a near mint example. Not a scratch, not a dent. Low shutter count.
When buying new, it's hard to find a better value in the market than the M6 II, and the guy asking said POCKETABLE.
After he has a few lenses, if he buys EF ones he can later pick up a cheap 5D to play with and enjoy the bliss of an optical viewfinder.
And he'll be better equipped to deal with the things that could puzzle a newbie.
