>>3819793Some went up due to Youtube but I think a lot of them have gone up due to film in general having a resurgence. Youtube contributes to the hype but it's not solely a Youtube thing, it's everywhere on IG and other film places. And because of the general hype, the price increase has been more top-heavy too, especially with high end compacts, rangefinders, and the 6x6/6x7 medium format cameras.
In early 2019 I bought a Pentax 67ii from KEH for $1225, and right now I could sell it on ebay for $2000-$2250. I had to spend $250 to repair it when it jammed on me after 6 months, but it was worth the investment since I could still get out with a profit if I wanted to. Other film cameras I've got that are more common or not as sought-after haven't gone up nearly as much, maybe only 25% at the most in that time frame. I haven't seen the lenses change that much in price, they haven't gone up as much either.
I think the best bargain nowadays are the later Canon EF mounts on 35mm, you get newer feature-packed cameras that people still undervalue since they don't have retro aesthetics. The EF lenses themselves are going down in price due to digital shooters migrating to the RF mount. You could make the same argument for Nikon F mount cameras too but those F mount bodies seem to be a little more expensive.
There aren't many medium format bargains left but they used to be the Bronicas when I was buying cameras and they probably still are, nobody really talks them up like Pentax, Hasselblad, or Mamiya.
