Take PCBs for example, factories in China have printing these down to a tee, to the extent that even QA is done automatically by a machine. This is only viable because of the quantities people order from them in. Such places will have minimum order quantities, so if you aren't haven't masses and masses of that PCB made, you will have to order from somewhere more expensive that take lower MOQs - and they're more expensive because they won't have the equipment to produce things as cheaply or quickly.
