I'm a huge fan of the works of artists like Ernst Haas, Eggleston, Leiter, Viv Maier, etc, but I can't help but notice how people will backflip through several hoops trying to explain the genius and personality of a street snapshot full of "broken rules", only to turn around and call this style unrefined and messy when shot by contemporary photographers.

I know art fame is 90% marketing always, but this is just so noticeable every time I run into it. Will my photos suddenly become way more meaningful when extra time is factored in, or is it just a matter of all photos being essentially worthless now that it's accessible?
