My understanding of Rodinal is that it is compensation, which means it will pull out information from a wider range of exposures. One person will say "Rodinal is perfect for pushing film" and another will say "Rodinal is not the film for pushing use D-76 instead". In my case I am metering/pushing HP5+ 2 stops to 1600. My exposures across the roll probably vary by a stop or so in either direction because I don't have an in-camera light meter. I combine metering with my phone with a bit of guesswork. I'll be scanning the negatives in digitally. Why would I use D-76 or HC-110 instead of Rodinal? Actual question.
