Nikon in 3rd place last year, manufacturing just 250k mirrorless bodies, that's in no way sustainable. Fuji and lolympus making even less!

Manufacturing and smarketshares are like loops that strengthen each other.
If you have high marketshare -> You justify massive productions -> More cameras on the shelves at retailers -> More sales and price reductions -> More customers -> more marketshare -> produce more cameras -> etc

Once you enter this loop you get wind on your back.
Once you're out of this loop, you're in trouble.

Pentax is a hobbyist company at this point.

They make cameras for themselves, their friends, and hope they can get some customers as well.

That's basically what Pentax is. A passion project with a generous investor (Ricoh).

BCN rankings are meaningless, they are only from Japan sales, and only from selected retailers.

If you looked at sales of onions and tofu products by only looking at trader joes in california, you might have a very different picture compared to looking at sales across walmart, costco, target, etc; and massively different to total sales nationwide.
