anyone know aboutthe qc/mfg of this lens?

There are two versions - serial # 1...-3... and a newer 4...

My concern is that this lens is notorious for fucking up, mostly AF motors stop working or squeak or the zoom ring breaks, just really idiotic shit. But image quality seems to be impeccable, and more importantly it's cheap now.

And so my question; are the issues only with the earlier version of this lens or with all?
