>>3856408It actually is, the "seam" visible on the side isn't the actual seam but simply guidelines for where the leatherette lies. The actual top plate has that little curved groove in it and snaps in almost completely flush with the other piece above the screen.
You can vaguely see the actual seam (where the fracture occured) in the Ken Rockwell pic attached.
The real damage that camera incurred is to the electronics of the viewfinder, buttons, and dials. Fixing a top plate is cheap comparatively.
