You know, kind of like how the "tone" setting on Fujis can let you make targeted adjustments to highlights or shadows instead of simply increasing contrast in both?
Surprise surprise, that's all the "D&B" in that image really set out to accomplish. You could do it in camera if you weren't limited to low contrast film and a low contrast lens.
