>>3861584Sensor shift is great but it's not perfect. That said... it's an awesome feature to have anyway, and having medium format sized images is just insane.
I have an Olympus camera with sensor shift and idk why it make jpgs when I tried it out, but good god, they were bigger than the usual raws - about 30 mb.
There are other models that are capable of better sensor shift, but they also have handheld sensor shift ability that gives about 50mp while maintaining margin for IBIS and about 80mp when used on a tripod.
But anyway. I feel like the issue with the equivalency rabbit hole is that it delves into what is just recreating the exact same image with different gear. But who ever does that?
Ultimately, the only time you really need to think about it is more when selecting the right lens for the kind of photography you're doing.
For example, if the standard focal length on mft is 25mm, then you make your lens picks based on whether you're after portraits, travel, architecture, animals/wildlife, sports or something more niche than that.
Given the fact that Olympus' E-M1X has autofocus AI for animals, trains, cars & motorcycles and planes - it seems like a system that's more targeted at people who have hobbies that overlap with photography. I do really like Olympus' design philosophy on stuff like this.
But yeah... sometimes there are things that competitors can achieve, and that's fine too.
