>>3865030For landscapes look for interesting shapes and colors. Partly cloudy days can add interest to a dull sky and if you have faster moving clouds a long exposure shot of them can give you some cool effects. God rays are a lot of fun to shoot too. I find a lot of my best shots are right as clouds are breaking up.
Sunrises and sunsets (and the times just after and before) give really intense color. You can also get some interesting shots at night with a tripod and long exposures, though it can sometimes be better to do multiple shots at a higher ISO and faster shutter speeds to reduce noise. The other thing is to make sure you at least have a circular polarizer, really makes the difference in the sky and reduces reflections on water and shiny surfaces to pull the color out of the scene. Really useful to have a tripod and a selection of ND filters for longer exposures.
Biggest thing is to get out and do it. I always throw my camera in my bag when I hike just in case I see something cool.
