>>3864997>not understanding surface areaI feel you.
Basic math can be hard for those with low IQ.
Let me help you out so you can understand it better.
864 square mm for a 36x24 sensor (full frame)
1441 square mm for a 43.8x32.9 sensor (medium digishit scam)
2352 square mm for a 56x42 sensor (medium 645)
4704 square mm for a 56x84 sensor (medium 6x9)
Imagine getting jewed and paying a huge amount more for something called medium while getting way less than half the expected sensor size. Lmao.
We're talking 1488. Fourteen. Eighty. Eight. Compare that to 864. The difference between actual 645 medium size and 35mm is 1488 square mm and the ENTIRE size of a medium scam format digital is just 1441. The entire sensor surface area of a fake medium digital format is less than the difference between actual 35mm and medium format.
That's how bad it is.
Again, here's the math.
36x24=864 --- full frame
43.8x32.9=1441 --- fake "medium format"
56x42=2352 --- real medium format
2352-864=1488 --- difference between real medium and full format
If you buy this you are literally being scammed. Sure, it's more surface area than full frame but them calling it medium is false advertising they likely only get away with due to legal technicalities where "medium" is not a hard set defined standard and is merely an "industry norm" they can ignore. Still a fucking scam.
>>3865000Phase One doesn't even sell to consumers though.
I never said proper sensors don't exist but the absolute truth is consumer grade medium format is a lie and doesn't compare.
You can get 53.4x40mm for $33K from Hassy but Pentax sells a "645" medium camera with a fucking 43.8x32.8 sensor size. That's a significant crop factor, if nothing else, so that's a literal scam unless you're a cuck who thinks calling something 645 and medium and not matching the medium 645 film size is acceptable for any reason when full frame has been equal to 35mm film size forever.
