>>3872111>ve never had a problem with mine" is the sign of a BAD answer. that means jack shit if you have an issue. So what kind of answers is one to expect on /p/? We don't have repair techs on here. I gave my own experience and went on to mention that the only issue that seems to arise is when people accidently jam the shutter...and that there are guides out there for fixing it yourself.
Of course all cameras need repairs eventually. There are plenty of repair techs out there that work on Bessas. They aren't complicated cameras that use proprietary tech.
I've researched Bessas a lot...there really aren't any common issues with them. Leicas are obviously a great choice too...but if someone is wanting an M mount RF with a built in meter...your options are:
Leica CL (40 years old, meters known to be unreliable, only framelines for 40/90 lenses) ~$400-$500
Minolta CLE (35 years old, very electronic dependant if that matters, only framelines for 28/40/90 lenses) ~$600-$700
Hexar RF (very electronic dependent if that matters) ~$700-$800
Bessa mechanical models (15-20 years old, only electronics are meter, various frameline set choices, very serviceable) ~$600-$1200 depending on model
Leica M5 (nearly 50 years old, very serviceable, bigger/heavier than all other options here, actual Leica, lots of people hate it...though I think it's the coolest leica) ~$1000
Leica M6 (15-35 years old, very serviceable b the TTL ones have meters that give out, actual Leica) $2000+
There's the basic pros/cons metered M-mount RF that can be had for various price ranges. Easy enough to see the value of Bessas.
