How exactly do you create a cinema inspired still? All of the YT videos talk about editing some shitty portrait

Shoot in a wide aspect ratio and compose for that, there's an x-pan thread roaming around the board, check it out.

Film is approached completely differently than traditional photography. Because of the requirement to get repeatable, consistent results over an entire shooting day you need a more controlled lighting style. A big reason >>3869834 looks as "cinematic" as it does is because of the art gallery's lighting.

Environmental shot with humans (full body or cropped gradually to the face/torso), shallow DoF to isolate the actors and flex the anamorphic rendering, a lot of color grading & directed light.

I'm gonna show you a trick, you need to shoot in a longer focal length >50mm and create a panorama while still preserving the compression of a long focal length. What this does is that it emulate the "Anamorphic" look that cinema has. What you want is a WIDE 21:9 aspect ratio using long focal length, this will give you the necessary compression. Its not easy but its doable if you know what your doing.

Cinema is a time-based medium; a sequence of images. What you're trying to do is create one, single still image that feels as though there is something that goes before and after. What is there before this? What is there after? Imply that to the viewer using framing and composition. The OP image is a fantastic example
