>>3876180>>3876105Pentax K-3. It was 2 years ago I think, I don't exactly remember the exact details. Had the gps thing attached but the astrotracer tracking was awful. About 60° to the right it was much better but there were no good objects in that direction so I just dialed back to 5s exposure, I remember 10s gave me trails and had a hard time recalibrating and moving around in my backyard. ISO was 3200 or 6400 I think. Lens used was DA* 300/4 wide open. Fired away and adjusted aiming until it was too low (and near the streetlight).
One thing people don't get about the Pentax astrotracer "magic" is that it can be quite picky or downright unusable if something ferrous nearby is messing with the compass, and the tracking performance significantly drops depending how far you are pointing from the rotational axis. It is more of a novelty feature than useful, I am not at all surprised it was taken out in the new K-3 III.
If you want any kind of tracking support that is easy to set up I'd suggest getting a Star Adventurer. Not the Mini unless all you want is wide angle starscapes. A good refractor around 400-450mm helps as well, much better than a telephoto lens, easier to focus as well.
I'd also suggest getting a dedicated camera for astro where you can remove the IR cut filter, it is the biggest bottleneck in capturing light.
