Most hook up wirelessly via Wi-Fi so you can skip buying the physical cable and just use your phone or a dedicated wireless remote.

Technically, even the movement and vibration of the cable tied to the camera could cause issues for you. Why would you want a cable?

If you want to larp, just get an older camera anyways

PC-Sync is still available on pro cameras.
5D4, 1DX3, D6, D850, D750, D500, D7500, K-1 II, K-3 III, you name it.

Because they're redundant.

If you reallllly need a pc sync port you can get one that mounts to your flash shoe (and has passthrough)

For everyone else it's just wasted real estate, a potential point of water ingress and corrosion, and looks ugly.

Shutter cables were replaced because electronic connections allow for programming. Canon's remote lets you do stuff like a shot every minute.

Now some or all of that capability is in the camera itself so no cable is needed.

Hmm there’s still a remote trigger on a cable that you can get. At least my canon 6d had it. Not sure if it still works woth the r5 - as you said, i just use my phone to trigger it now for stability reasons you mentioned.
