No, they're an optical flaw but not distortion. Distortion is either barrel or pincushion.
Sperochromatism is a different beast.

Troll. I have this exact lens. A 50 is basically the DEFINITION of normal viewing angle.

Here’s one at 20mm. It doesn’t necessarily have to have a ton of distortion. It’s the distance from the subject that causes distortion, not the focal length itself

And just about the same framing at 85mm. Because of her orientation to the lens at 20mm, the distortion is minimal, so the main difference is the background compression
