>>3894539I'd say pick up either
* Canon 5D Mark II body (should be ~$400-500 used)
* Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 (prices vary but here's one for $390
https://www.ebay.com/itm/233983472745?epid=113855632)
the 24mm is pretty wide so if you like less wide landscapes, go for a 35mm prime:
* Canon EF 35mm f/2 (here's one for $454
https://www.ebay.com/itm/184867384448?epid=131614025)
or, for a Nikon kit, grab:
* Nikon D610 (used should also be ~$500)
* Nikon AF 24mm f/2.8 (
https://www.ebay.com/itm/224473462655?LH_BIN=1 for example, pretty cheap because this is the older G model. you can go for the more modern AF-S model but it will cost probably ~$550 used)
or with the same lens focal length option as above:
* Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (
https://www.ebay.com/itm/393378440351?LH_BIN=1 for example, should be $300-400)
I know I'd want a 35mm not a 24mm but you said landscapes and cityscapes which tend to be served better by wider lenses. I have primes at both focal lengths myself and they're both very useful.
When shopping for used camera bodies, make sure they're fully working, they look to be in good condition, make sure the shutter count is relatively low (these are pro bodies so they should be rated for lots of shutter actuations, but try to find one under 50,000 shutter if you can), and keep in mind you'll need to buy a memory card, too. If the person listing the item won't give you the shutter count or any other info you ask for, move on.
