How much this actually means depends completely on the award. I could take a thoughtless snapshit of a popular beauty spot, crank up the contrast and saturation and it would win an award somewhere. Especially if I can spin confidence and 'stick it to the snobs' camaraderie like Rockwell.

no, but ever since i found it here about a year and a half ago i've been hellbent on trying to recreate the aesthetic. picrel is one of my better attempts of that, with obvious digital manipulation and the sense of depth as the commieblock foreground rolls out into the mountain background

I would say that astro photography would be the most impressive of the bunch, it is technically difficult to do and you can show people something that they would not be able to see as clearly with the naked eye
