>>3895700Having worked at a homeless facility for a while, I can tell you the following: The homeless are, by and large, degenerate fucking trash and mostly undeserving of any kind of sympathy in the sense you're talking about. I won't say that they're not human, but the idea that they are or could be motivated by anything more than their next bottle/hit is, frankly, ridiculous. In the nine months I worked at the facility I met one person
>onewho had come to Las Vegas and had honestly and truly had a bad run of things. I will never forget the man or his name. Kenneth Cl***. He had met a woman on-line, had uprooted his life to come here to be with her, and she then robbed him of his meagre life savings and then kicked him out. He legitimately had nowhere to go.
Within three months, the minimum amount of time it was even possible as per the rules of the shelter, he had taken all of the horseshit classes, done all the horseshit program work, and found and immediately took the very first job to come along, as a prep cook at a remote casino where the pay was absurdly bad but which featured free room and board as part of the deal. He went from prep slave to cook in the next three months, and the next time I saw him, he had turned his life around completely.
This is in stark fucking contrast to most homeless who simply refuse to do anything other than steal/beg in order to fund their habit. I had the power in my small role there to get people off the streets with the caveat that they had to go to detox first, which we paid for, in order to have "three hots and a cot" and a whole industry of help at their disposal. So I'd go up to them when I saw them with a sign
>homeless veteran, need a joband say
>TODAY IS YOUR LUCKY DAY, FELLANOBODY
EVER
TOOK
ME

THE
DEAL
So while I'm not exactly saying that they should be rounded up and murdered, I'm also not saying that they should be seen as pristine untouchable angels who have fallen through the cracks, either.
