I've been feeling kinda stuck and I want to improve my photography. What do you consider something really important do study or some aspect you think people often overlook?

Also, any tips on urban nighttime photography? I've been wanting to take a few pictures inspired by Christopher Doyle's cinematography but I want to have somewhat of an understanding about what I'm doing so I don't butcher simple details.
