>>3922165>Our expectations for new products grow as time goes byThen he shouldn't sing so many praises to the Fuji because in RAW the Z50 cleans it, which was my point, the kit lens sucks hard compared to good Fuji lenses but shadow recovery is better and dynamic range is more consistent through the highlights, which he didn't test for some reason despite having the very best Nikkor lenses.
>whilst D700 can be had for 235 eurosNot anymore lol, it got shilled last year and now they are 400 regularly.
>D700 also has the meme statusIt does live up to its fame i can assure you, Nikon indeed never made a replacement because build quality in the D6XX and D7XX is far from being as good, and i might add also the buttons and dials, the 700 has more options than the other bodies.
>so we would presume output to be almost identicalYou or they would presume wrong, it is different, D3 has a bit less noise but the D700 renders colors differently. Lack of resolution in both also present better differentiation from what's on focus and what's not, which helps bokeh a lot.
>you could get very close to 1DX AF performanceI see your point now, yes you are on spot there. Nikon did have good AF too in the D7X00 series but the 7500 screw it up.
Still in DSLRs the Nikon bodies had the advantage of better tracking and marginally better single-point focus, with the former using less points than the Canon which is not much of a factor for a real pro. Both cameras were razor close when used by someone who can focus, pan and do photographer things but in the hands of a hobbyist or an amateur then the Canon pulls ahead, same applies to RAW, only a few will take advantage of that.
I think you have the right idea, but the fact is Wheeler does not follow you, he measures Fuji as a casual APS-C line and praises it but he measures Nikon differently, he wants them to be the best and if they can't then they are lower than filth. It's tough love but without any of the rare praise.
