Lenses light transmission is per unit area, meaning more unit area = more light gathered.

Let's imagine we have single pixel sensors, to keep this simple for your simple brain. One that's half the surface area size of the other will require double the voltage gain applied to reach the same brightness.

The more gain applied, the less accurate the measurement. Hence why a sensor half the size of another has one stop worse noise performance, even if they are both taken at "iso 100".

It includes such gems as;
>Example: a full frame 20 megapixel camera and 2x crop sensor 20 megapixel camera. The Sony lens mount is too narrow for F/2 and because of this it is going to result in huge amounts of vignetting, as already has been seen with other FE-mount lenses. The only lenses that do work are made for aps-c. Because the image circle can be smaller than the inner diameter of the lens mount.

It might be worth noting that Sony has the 35 1.4 and 24-70 2.8 with the least vignette out of all the big brands. How do you think they managed that?

If you like out of focus backgrounds than you may want a f/1.2. You don't need f/1.2 for better image quality. F/1.2 lenses are usually soft with lots of vignetting at their widest aperture.

To be fair, that's a constant aperture, so it will behave differently as you change the zoom.

The really cool thing about Tamron is they are completely upfront with that type of AF motor they give you.
OSD is the name of old stepper type.
RXD is the name of silent stepper type.
VXD is electromagnet actuator.

It's such a simple thing to do, but it's really nice that they actually do it.
Unlike Sony who doesn't do it.
Sigma doesn't do it either.
Canon doesn't do it either (USM is just a broad marketing term that covers 3-4 different types of motors)

players and speakers in boomers’ homes and this is the only real work experience he had until he was deemed an invalid with the ““condition”” of “getting tired easily” and has lived in his basement on the queen’s dime ever since.

This obviously makes him an expert in camera electronics.
