the whole masks and police state almost-martial-law thing is a bit depressing. I cant tell if people are smiling or scowling.
>>3928460Good question. I doubt they like me at all, more like just the idea of someone snapping them looking cool.
All kids do, but girls in particular go from being weird little ugly duckling monsters to glorious swan monsters in a very short period of time. As they start to make this transition they notice, everyone else notices, and for a time the world becomes their oyster in many ways, like they have never experienced before. It's fun and empowering. They rightfully enjoy immortalising those glamorous moments in pixels. So the combination of some pics where they look stylish/cute/cool/sophisticated and their friends <3-ing them on social media stimulates the reward centres of their limbic system ... and they like the concept of the oh-hi guy's photos.
Besides, oh-hi isn't about me, its about the people in the photos. That may be what they really like about it, if anything.
I think photographers make the mistake of assuming it's about them all the time. It almost never is. And if it is; it's because the subjects make it about you, not because you try to do so, or want that to be the case.

I thought I had already edited on this machine under Kubuntu 20.04, but it seems that last batch was the first time I used the new darktable. Everything looked really washed out, it was weird. I'm not sure if the latest photos reflect that either. Maybe it's just been a while. It's weird.
