>>3934901Based Plastic Fantastic, if you nuke it buy the newer one, has better coatings and won't die.
>>3935013Major sensor upgrade but similar body. Had one for a while, you'll like it.
>>3935155Nikon boomer here. Some of their old film-era lenses are amazing. The 85 1.8 AF-D is nice, the 35/2 AF-D has a soft dreamy look wide open and weighs peanuts, great for walkaround. Stopped down it cleans its act up and becomes sharp.
>>3935284 that is also a good lens, they made a 70-210 f4 that is equally as good. The macro lens to get is the 55 2.8 AF from the 80s, they are rare but optically identical to the AIs model and I own one, it's probably the sharpest film-era AF lens for Nikon money can buy.
The 28-105 AF-D is a legendary-tier walkaround zoom lens and the 70-210 f4-5.6 AF-D is renowned for it's fast AF and optical qualities.
On DSLRs, your camera will need to have a focus motor built-in to the lens mount which is most of the mid-range and high-end ones. He's a huge meme here but Ken Rockwell has some good reviews on Nikon stuff and for the most part he is correct.
Be mindful though, film-era lenses render differently because their coatings are optimized for the reflective surfaces of 35mm film and not a digital sensor. Some anon dumbed it down real nice years ago but it has to do with how internal reflections are managed in a film lens vs. digital lens because of the reflective properties of the digital sensor vs. film
