Honestly, the Nikon nifty fifty 1.8 G that's $200 is so incredibly sharp, contrasty, and free of serious flaws when stopped down, which works for me. I'm one of those dudes that lives at f/8, so sharpness wide open is a hard sell for me, especially when I keep seeing 1.4 primes for so much more than the 1.8's yet they're similar in sharpness stopped down.
