With
[email protected] with 2.5m snap you are getting focused area from around 2 to 3.5 metres away from you. (0.5 before focus point and 1 behind it)
With 40 mm you get object in focus only if they are in 2.2-3m zone.
1.5m vs 0.8m, it is a huge difference. And I am rounding up heavily in favour of 40mm.
For example you can not fit whole sideway-parked car without focus fall of.
Also it's much easier to not miss 'from the hip' shots or fit whole scene with 28mm.
GR handles distortions very well and you are losing quality only in outer ~5% frame.
