>>3938685Mack have a lot of shit, but they've also published some decent work. The Ravens reprint was poor quality, but so is 99% of Provoke-era romanticism and like reprints & rehashes. Provoke & Moriyama etc was a flash in a pan centred around a few figures and became irrelevant shortly after it finished. The whole era has been pornified by Western galleries and weebs with no knowledge of Japan, and Ravens in particular is usually romanticised by all but the most emotionally stunted dudebros, fitting considering he was a narcissist drunk.
Those photographers I mentioned - while not my thing - aren't "insecure". Most of them are literally just exploring their own curiosities and having fun. There's plenty of others like them who don't make it into galleries who just have fun with weird camera experiments. And honestly, if you think Provoke and Ray were the limitations of experimenting with the medium, your knowledge of photography in all forms is frankly profoundly limited. It's a bit like saying Iron Maiden was the end of rock or something.
I'm not talking like that about Kawauchi at all... a lot of your appraisals of other people's photography seems to come from a deeply hostile place; have you considered seeing a therapist to deal with your lack of emotional self control?
