The forests around me aren't quite as boring but close. I got my camera this summer, and there really isn't much interesting going on on the landscape scale, but you still can take cool photos of details.
But I have high expectations for autumn, winter and spring. Once the leaves are down and the landscape features are more clear, I think I'll be able to take some cool shots. In the spring I'm going to catch the bloom of wild forest flowers, it always looks really nice and I've wanted to take photos of it for a while.
