They ignore that whilst spare mechanical or electrical parts are basically gone by now for any old camera (unless you can hob your own gears, or pay someone out the nose to do it for you a'la Leicas), with almost all electronic components a modern equivalent exists that can replace it. Any passive (resistor, cap, discrete transistors, etc) will still be available and its EMT equivalent will be able to be crammed into whatever space the older larger component fit in without issue. The sole source of potential issue is a dead custom IC, but there's a good chance you can source one from a 'dead' camera for cheap (the same as you would a snapped shaft or worn gear).
The advantage, particularly for electronic shutters, is that they basically do not drift. If the shutter moves right at any speed, it moves at the correct speed without tuning for all speeds.
