>>3958012It doesn't necessarily preclude being artistic, but if you actually read what I wrote you might notice that I make the distinction between the craftsmanship of producing a quality print and the artistry of producing a strong image. If you put all your eggs in the print basket, you can produce mundane, artless images, all while convincing yourself that you are making art, unless you make the distinction. Again, this isn't a necessary preclusion, just a risk that you can run, in theory.
For example, calendar photos can be beautiful prints with excellent craftsmanship, but they're unoriginal and not a representation of anything other than a pretty image. For art, you would hope for there to be some other thematic substance
