my idea was originally to take shots from a few angles and essentially double expose them to make the tree seem more gnarled and stacked than it actually was but I think after sleeping on it that the pretty much unedited version is weird and unnerving on its own

I've shot many of these subjects in color already. Generally I prefer shooting color but across all of the shots I've taken in this style I vastly prefer the b&w ones

that being said I still generally try to edit them in color as well just out of curiosity and because experimenting is fun

that is the plan I just don't have a flash setup capable of being triggered from that distance at the moment

I've got a flash and controller on the way that should get me at least 100' range. should be a nice addition to nighttime experiments

I don't mind redoing shots. A couple of these places I've shot ~5 times already in one way or another

I use the fuji ef-x20 which is a 20/12 guide number flash for most of these. I like that I can swap down to the shorter range just by flipping a lever on the flash

otherwise sometimes I use a lightpix q20 for when I want to have the flash at a weird angle

eventually I'd like to get a remote trigger and do a bunch of off camera stuff

I really do enjoy every single night-time shot but love the ones with snow. I think due to the creativity, good b&w conversions, but also because you give centered compositions some minimalist fire with the light fall-off.
